A Short Walk In The Indian Canyons

Just as I was on my first visits to Provence, I'm strongly attracted to the quality of light and how it interacts with the natural forms in the desert and canyons around Palm Springs. I'm very much taken with natural shapes and the shadows and the palm trees, how the elements combine in the views, and how it all changes as the sun moves daily across the sky.

We get out in the desert & canyons as often as we can, even though we didn't pack anything like hiking clothes. So it was that one recent day, fitted up in our colourful outfits and city-street sneakers, we headed out to spend a day walking/hiking the easy trails on this Costanoan-Ohlone territory just south of Palm Springs. Here's some of what, and whom, I saw on that day.
